Mr. Stahl's Life Skills Support Classroom
Children who participate in Mr. Stahl's classroom have an opportunity to develop independent living skills that will carry them from their teenage years through their adult life. These are the kinds of skills which are needed to perform everyday tasks such as health and safety, home management, transportation, personal finance, and more. Our Life Skills Program focuses on everyday functional skills for individuals with disabilities. The children participate in programs which help develop personal/social skills, hygiene, independent life skills such as cooking and clothing care, work competencies, and functional academics. Special education students learn things better when they are not confined to sitting behind a desk or staying in one spot, learning life skills are best done "by doing”.
The Life Skills Support Education Program focuses on quality, effective, student centered instructional services provided in the least restrictive environment. Teachers, building principals, paraprofessionals, central office administrators and support staff work collaboratively with families to meet the needs of our students with disabilities. We are committed to delivering quality services across a full continuum of programming to every student. This is a pro-active, team centered process which identifies strategies to support students and measure responses to interventions as a part of the action plan. Principals, school psychologists, social workers, counselors and classroom teachers collectively design appropriate interventions at regularly scheduled meetings.
